INTRODUCTION
A. BACKGROUND OF THE
PROBLEM
In
the era of the industrial revolution that is felt today has an influence on the
world order of education. Many significant changes in the quality of education
and educational values have faded and cannot be reversed. Many changes in
attitudes and behavior experienced by students are the millennial generation.
The millennial generation who has grown up in the digital era has become
accustomed to technology and industry 4.0 information flows, attitudes that
arise include gadget addiction, cyber bullying, or even moral and moral
derivatives, so that with the age of 4.0, youth's interest in Arabic is only
about Arabic. or assuming that this language is only for educated people, the
attraction of millennial youth to Arabic in THE ERA is cyber bullying
only young people who receive education in modern Islamic boarding schools or
institutions that provide the program, need action and prevention efforts
against changes in student behavior in this era. this 4.0. If this situation is
not handled immediately and is not serious, it will have an impact on the
destruction of attitudes, morals and morals in millennial youth. However,
another impact that is most inclined in THE ERA industrial 4.0for the
younger generation who does not know technology tools such as the younger
generation with non-formal educational backgrounds or who are in the pesantren
environment needs special introduction and teaching regarding technological
advances. however, the renewal of society 5.0 is a special challenge for
educators in balancing the learning system between industry 4.0 and society
5.0.
Developments in THE ERA industrial
4.0 and society 5.0 are a challenge for the world of education today,
including the introduction of the Qur'an language or learning Arabic. This
requires the role of creative educators in introducing Arabic learning in order
to achieve the expected goal, which is to make the millennial generation able
to know Arabic learning well but not lagging behind technological advances and
the development of social skills in the community. Based on this discussion,
the author is interested in discussing the challenges of the millennial
generation towards learning Arabic in the era of society 5.0.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
A. Understanding
the era 4.0 and the era of society 5.0
1. THE ERA industrial
4.0
Industry 4.0 is a concept that
was coined by a famous economist from Germany, namely Professor Klaus Schwab,
he is also the initiator of the World Economic Forum (WEF).[1]
This
concept is the German state development plan which is named High-Tech
Strategy 2020. The use of this concept was chosen to keep Germany at the
forefront of manufacturing. In this case, other countries also sparked the
concept of Industry 4.0 by interfering this concept into being part of
them with various terms including Smart Industry, Smart Factories,
Industrial Internet of Things, or Advanced Manufacturing[2]
Even
though it has many terms or mentions. The different types of products basically
contain the same goal, namely to fostercompetition industrial in facing
the challenges of the global market in line with the increasingly volatile
world problems. So that makes every country compete to be the best in the
advancement of developments in the field of digital technology. THE ERA industrial
4.0 or also known as the digital era is a fundamental way of life and human
work processes.[3]All human life is digital based. This era is called the Cyber Communication Era
which is characterized by artificial intelligence, emergence, robotics,
conventional vehicles, genetic editing, and the
development of various social media platforms that exist in people's lives,
which allows humans to further optimize the work of the brain as a whole.
According
to the German Chancellor, Angela Markel in Fonna (2019:14) argues that THE ERA industrial
4.0 is a comprehensive change of all aspects of production in the industry
through the incorporation of digital technology and the internet with
conventional industry.[4]
Meanwhile,
according to Ahmad Rouf, THE ERA industrial 4.0 is a period where people
search, retrieve, and analyze information or data withservices cloud storage
in cyberspace through internet technology[5] Indirectly at this time is
a period where dependence on the use of the internet is very influential on
human life. With the internet, it allows humans to get the information they
need. However, this has also led to the emergence of an individualistic attitude
of society regarding the use of this internet technology. People prefer to use
their smart phones to socialize. So that automatically it affects the order of human
life, especially in the realm of communication.
2. Era Society 5.0
Era
Society 5.0 is a society that can solve various challenges and social
problems by utilizing various innovations that were born in the era of the
industrial revolution 4.0. According to Kagerman quoted by Ahmad Rouf (2019:
44) If THE ERA Industry 4.0is an official term that came from Germany at
the Hannover Fair in 2011. In contrast to THE ERA, it Society
5.0is a step taken by Japan to anticipate global trends as the origin the
emergence of therevolutionera industrial 4.0.[6] Where with the concept
that makes humans as the center of technology control. This is also what
distinguishes the concept of therevolution industrial 4.0 where at this
time people are looking for, retrieving, and analyzing information or data
withservices cloud storage in cyberspace through internet technology.
The emergence of this era is the answer to the challenges of the emergence of
therevolution industrial 4.0 which comes along with the era of
disruption which marks increasingly complex technological developments.
The
era of Society 5.0 is a real journey towards the development and
increasingly advanced information systems and technology. In this era,
significant human development is in line with the progress of developed
countries which are increasingly making changes.
This
period is a time when humans are no longer objects under the pressure of
therevolution industrial 4.0, but humans are the main controlling
subject in the advancement of the field of science and technology. Society 5.0
allows humanity to become increasingly attached to modern-based science such as
AI (Artificial Intelligent), robots, IoT (Internet of Things) and
so on to serve humans.
Mayumi
Fukuyama in his article quoted by Ahmad Rouf (2019:44) wrote that the purpose
of implementing Society 5.0 is to create a place where people can enjoy
their lives with the help of technology.[7] Technology in the era of Society
5.0 explains that the goal of technology is not something that can enslave
humans by completely replacing human roles, but to help and advance people's
lives.
B. How
to Deal with the Millennial Generation Against the Attractiveness of Arabic
Language In the era of Society 5.0,
the
millennial generation according to Conscience in Imam Asrori (2019:402) is a
generation born in the 1980-2000 range.[8] The millennial generation
or also known as generation Y, which is also the next generation of generation
X. This generation is closely related to the advancement of the internet and
cannot be separated from the use of gadgets. This generation is also
characterized by a generation that is close to instant communication in various
fields of life.
The
dependence of the millennial generation on gadgets is the most visible feature.
This generation will not be able to be far away from their smart phones,
because they need these devices to access various information, both information
related to social, educational, business, and other purposes.
In
line with this, Conscience as quoted by Imam Asrori (2019:403) also divides the
characteristics of the millennial generation into four: productive, also
inseparable from gadgets, happy to share, and practical. The first
characteristic is productive according to him this can be seen from their high
activity. They are used to running several activities simultaneously. For
example, a millennial is able to download content while reviewing a phenomenon.
Indirectly, this millennial generation is an active generation with activities
and multitasking.
Second,
the millennial generation likes to share. They like to share material or
non-material. The millennial generation tends not to think long about this. As
an example of a small case, a person who voluntarily distributes food to people
in need without thinking about how much is spent.
Furthermore, the last characteristic stated by Conscience is that
the millennial generation does not like things that are too complicated. If in
doing a job there is an instant way to solve it, they will prioritize the
instant one. For example, in their transactions, they will tend to use non-cash
payments. Lazy shopping out of the house, the choice is taken by using a
delivery service and so on.
With the above characteristics also make the curiosity of the
generation in the sciences is very large. In this case, science in the field of
language also mainly affects the life of the millennial world. as language is
something that cannot be avoided, because language is a communication tool used
in everyday life. It is with language that a system of exchanging information
is established between one party to another.
The
world of linguistics, especially Arabic, is currently faced with enormous
challenges because it is not over yet with the passage of the industrial era
4.0, now it has been surprised again by the emergence of the era of society 5.0
which must be faced and becomes a challenge in itself in the world of language,
especially Arabic. [9]
C. Challenges
of Arabic Language Education in Era 5.0
The
development of the industrial era 4.0 is a challenge for the world of education
today, including Arabic language education. Teachers inevitably prepare
themselves to face increasingly complex challenges. The complexity of these
challenges must be accompanied by adequate capabilities possessed by teachers
and all components of society. Therefore, people must be educated because
education is an inseparable part of life and human life. This is in line with
John Dewey's opinion which states that education is one of the necessities of
life. One of the social functions, as guidance and as growth that prepares and
opens up and forms the discipline of life. This educational function can be
achieved through transmission, both in the form of (education) formal and
non-formal. However, at this time education has increasingly complex challenges
that must be faced, education is faced with technological advances with the
passage of
the
Industrial Revolution 4.0. Not finished with the hustle and bustle of
educational challenges due to the industrial revolution 4.0, we were surprised
by the emergence of society 5.0 (society 5.0). According to Andreja, the
Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 are real movements towards the
development of increasingly sophisticated information and technology. This
progress is a challenge for the world of education and all components of
society. Therefore, to face the emergence of society 5.0, patent breakthroughs
are needed in an effort to face the challenges that will be posed by society
5.0. The concept of Society 5.0 was adopted by the Japanese government in
anticipation of global trends as a result of the emergence of the industrial
revolution 4.0. society 5.0 is a natural thing that must have happened due to
the emergence of the industrial revolution 4.0. The industrial revolution 4.0
has given birth to various innovations in the industrial world and also society
in general. society 5.0 is the answer to the challenges that arise due to the
era of the industrial revolution 4.0.
Society
5.0 is the hope of the community to be able to solve various challenges and
social problems by utilizing various innovations that were born in the era of
the industrial revolution 4.0 such as the Internet on Things (internet
for everything), Artificial Intelligenceartificial (intelligence), Big
Data (large amounts of data), and robots to improve the quality of human
life. On the other hand, in the revolutionary era of technological
commercialization, Industry 5.0 has also changed the way we think about
education. The changes made are not only in the way of teaching, but far more
important are changes in the perspective of the concept of education itself.
Therefore, the development of current and future curricula must complement
students' abilities in pedagogic dimensions, life skills, the ability to live
together (collaboration) and think critically and need to have a creative
attitude.
An
educator is expected not only to transfer knowledge but more than that, the
development of attitudes and spirituality should be conveyed to students, in
order to create a balance between intellectual, spiritual and attitude
competencies. Likewise in Arabic language education in the 5.0 era, this was
very challenging for the development of the Arabic language in the world of
education. At first, Arabic language education was only of interest to a small
number of people because they thought that the Arabic language learning system
seemed classic and was considered difficult to learn. However, with the
industrial revolution 4.0 digitali, making Arabic language learning more modern
with the help of technology tools, making learning interest among the community,
especially students in the millennial era quite interested in learning Arabic.
The world of education is currently experiencing rapid progress after the use
of information and communication technology in the field of education.
The
era of globalization of education which places more emphasis on creativity and
human relationships with high economic value has become more prominent than
intellect in the fields of mathematics and science. This fact shows that
education is dynamic not static, following the times, and the role of education
to advance the Indonesian nation is proven in economic, social, cultural and
political development. Awareness of the importance of education in advancing
the nation is clearly seen in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, which
states explicitly to educate the nation's life through education whose
implementation is regulated in Article 31.
Therefore,
in the present era educators must be able to teach by utilizing ICT tools in
the learning process. One of the content that attracts students' attention is
the use of presentation media, of course, besides that the abundance of
learning resources should make it easier for educators to deliver their
teaching materials. Quoting from the hadith or maqolah which reads
"educate your children according to their times". space and time are
always changing and will always change according to our level of thinking.
Likewise, being an educator, is required to be able to adapt to global
developments that are and will occur. Where globalization that occurs in every
aspect of life takes place rapidly, especially in the fields of science and
technology. However, it is not enough to reach the stage of global development,
the existence of the development of Arabic language education also has its own modifications
along with the changing times, if in the 4.0 era the interest and interest of
students was quite good in learning Arabic, then in the era of society 5.0,
Arabic education needed special attention. in the balance of the education
system. Arabic education, which is known as learning that aims to be able to
communicate using Arabic later, is of course very directly related to the
social environment. Therefore, a fairly good environment will be one of the
success factors for learning Arabic.
Industry
5.0 is an industry that combines automation technology with cyber technology.
This is a trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technology. In
this era, industry is starting to touch the virtual world, in the form of
human, machine and data connectivity, all of which are already everywhere, or
know it by the term Internet of Things (IoT).
To
face the era of the industrial revolution 5.0, education is needed that can
form a creative, innovative, and competitive generation. This can be achieved
by optimizing the use of technology as an educational aid which is expected to
produce output that can keep up with or change the times for the better.
Without exception, Indonesia also needs to improve the quality of graduates
according to the world of work and the demands of digital technology. Education
5.0 is a response to the needs of the industrial revolution 4.0 where humans
and technology are aligned to create new opportunities creatively and
innovatively. Fisk (2017) explains “that the new vision of learning promoters
learners to learn not only skills and knowledge that are needed but also to
identify the source to learn these skills and knowledge.” Still according to
Fisk (2017) as quoted by Aziz Hussin, there are nine trends or tendencies related
to education 5.0, which are as follows.
First, study at a different
time and place. Students will have more opportunities to study at different
times and places. E-learningfacilitates opportunities for distance and
independent learning.
Two, individual learning.
Students will learn with learning tools that are adaptive to their abilities.
This shows that students at a higher level are challenged with more difficult
tasks and questions when after passing a certain level of competence. Students
who have difficulty with the subject will get the opportunity to practice more
until they reach the required level.
Three, students have choices
in determining how they learn. Although each subject taught aims at the same
goal, the way towards that goal may vary for each student. Similarly, with an
individual-oriented learning experience, students will be able to modify their
learning process with the tools they feel are necessary for them.
Five, field experiences.
Technological advances enable effective learning of certain domains, thereby
providing more space for acquiring skills that involve student knowledge and
face-to-face interaction. Thus, field experiences will be deepened through
courses or exercises. Schools will provide more opportunities for students to
acquire real-world skills that represent work they. This suggests curriculum
design needs to provide more space for students to learn more directly through
field experiences such as internships, mentored projects and collaborative
projects.
Sixth, data interpretation
The development of computer technology has finally taken over the tasks of
analysis that is done manually (mathematically), and immediately handles any
statistical analysis, describes and analyzes data and predicts future trends.
Seven different assessments.
Measuring students' abilities through conventional assessment techniques such
as question and answer.
Eight,, student
involvementstudent involvement in determining learning materials or curriculum
becomes very important. Students' opinions are considered in designing and
updating the curriculum. Their input helps curriculum designers produce
contemporary, up-to-date and high-value curricula.
Nine, mentoring Mentoring or
providing guidance to students is very important to build student learning
independence. Mentoring is the basis for student success, so it requires
teachers to be writing facilitators who will guide students through their
learning process.
Ten
shifts in the 5.0
education trend above are the main responsibility of teachers to students.
Educators must play a role in supporting the transition and not perceive it as
a threat to conventional teaching. This is an exciting, stimulating, and
massive challenge. Adaptation to this educational trend provides a guarantee
for individuals and society to develop a more complete set of competencies,
skills, and knowledge and unleash all of their creative potential.
Thus,
some of the things the authors have mentioned above, to address the challenges
of Arabic language education in the 5.0 era, we need to be prepared
specifically, the attitude of wisdom and broad knowledge regarding the era of
society 5.0 information in the advancement of Arabic language education.
CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION AND CLOSING
A. Conclusion
The
industrial era 4.0 is an era where all aspects of activities in life are
digitalized in order to achieve a goal. Meanwhile, the industrial era 5.0 is
the era of digitalization development where the use value of technology is not
only practical but more than that digitalization is able to bring to the value
of the usefulness of the technology itself.
The
challenges in this technological era are in the form of a decline in morals,
social, political, cultural and even education, especially Arabic education
itself. Therefore, as a concrete step in dealing with this era is to innovate
education that is integrated with technology as well as the cultivation of the
values of the nature of technological sophistication in order to advance
world civilization, especially in the field of education.
B. Closing
Thus,
we can arrange this paper well so that it can be useful for writers and
readers, and at The 10th Metro International Conference on Islamic Studies
(MICIS) I hope that IAIN Metro will be more advanced and victorious in the
future.
